We also shared some Japanese facts that were interesting.
It was a great day and performance.
This term Stage 3 had been learning about Japan. Year 5 had been practising to create a fan dance for the K-6 assembly. Also some year 5 students have been learning to speak Japanese for the assembly. The artwork that we had was Mt Fuji, The Golden Temple, carp fish, cherry blossoms, kimono, fan and swords. At the assmbly we wore black clothes, 7 girls wore kimonos on top of their black clothes and the boys wore white headbands that said Japan in Japanese writing.

5T has been learning about drug education. We have been learning about different types of drugs. For example, cocaine, panadol, marajuana and other illegal drugs. Some of the drugs we know can make us dizzy, sick and can mostly lead to death. 5T had made a chart with medicinal and illegal drugs. The medical drugs can also be very dangerous if you drink too much alchohol.
The class created short narratives of how to be responsible when taking medication such as read the labels, ask a responsible adult and storing it in the cabinet. This is one of the examples of the narratives we wrote. The story was written by Koreti and we are planning to read the story to our buddies at the next buddies session. Enjoy! Yours Sincerely, Ryan and Ashwini (5T) In 5T, we made a poster for Sorry Day. We took turns decorating our wonderful poster on Uluru for Sorry Day. The colours that we used to decorate our Aboriginal dot painting poster were Aboriginal colours such as : black, brown, red, yellow, orange and green. We also used water colours. We learnt about Sorry Day, the Aboriginals and the stolen generation. We also commemorated Sorry Day to remember the mistreatment of the indigenous population.
Posted By : Wilma and Jordan 5T and 5R started doing a 7 minute workout we had so much fun . Some of us were so "unfit" but me on the other hand was more than fit than I thought. It was really awesome exercise. Some of them included jumping jacks, step ups, dips, planking, sit ups, push ups, side planks and many others.
Come an be fit with 5T Posted by Sara 5T have been trying so hard to get the assembly award. We watched a spectacular performance by Year 3 about 'Australia-we're standing in it'.We listened to Australian music which was very entertaining. After the entertainment we were awarded with the assembly award! Miss Tjong let us have a little celebration party. We had ice cream and it was delicious. We also had some free time.
Posted by Yousif and Yasmina Last week,5T had to do a speech about either
friendship , all about me and what makes a good year 5 student. There were many great speeches but the lucky ones were us. On Friday we have to say our speech in front of stage 3 at the hall. It was a nerve racking experience and it was hard to give eye contact with lots of people . We manage to conquer our nerves. Everyone was a winner but the main winners were Edward from 5/6P and Michelle from 5W/C but at least we all get awards. Posted by Stephanie and Brandon On Wednesday, week 7, 2014, we had a CSIRO incursion at Fairfield West Public School for stage 3. Julianne was the expert and she introduced all the activities. We had an activity workbook that we completed at each station. Some of them included:
1. tornado machine 2. rock experiment 3. a puzzle of the tectonic plates 4. a fan that we had to blow a roof off with 5. a laptop with a tsunami maker 6. an earthquake monitor 7. a slinkey and rope game 8. rock density measurement At the end we experienced a volcanic eruption where she used H202 chemicals. We thought it was helpful and educational for our 'Natural Disaster' unit. Posted by Norman and Alessio This term 5T has been going to the iPad lab and experiencing the fun different maths apps. We are learning how to learn different techniques and new skills to solve math problems quickly and confidently. We think that this is a brilliant idea because we can learn and improve our maths skills and have fun at the same time.
Posted by Koreti and Jennifer The last few weeks we have been visiting Mr Post for our weekly music lessons. Music is one of our favourite lessons. We are working on our D, G and A7 chords and learning to strum the strings with picks. We usually conclude our lesson with some singing while Mr Post plays the piano or the guitar. Our favourite songs are: 'Old Gumtree' and 'I've been working on the rail road'.
